Nowadays, you can have a memory of a loved one immortalized in many different ways. Have you ever thought that you can also have a piece of jewelry designed to keep the memory alive? At DiamondsByMe, we have several options to appropriately incorporate the thought of a loved one into a memorial piece of jewelry. In this blog, we'll tell you about some of these options.
When you have the ashes of a loved one, it is a beautiful gesture to carry them very close to you. A piece of jewelry is therefore a beautiful way. In most cases, ash is incorporated into a piece of jewelry in an invisible way, but there is also the possibility of incorporating it visibly into a piece of jewelry. At DiamondsByMe, ashes can be incorporated into ear studs, bracelets, pendants and rings.
DiamondsByMe's rings are almost all perfect for immortalizing a life event. This requires only a small amount of ashes. You can also choose whether you want the ashes to be visible or invisible in a ring. People often scatter the remaining ashes in a special place. It is always wise to keep some extra ashes. Should it happen to you that you lose the jewelry, you always have a backup.
When we incorporate ashes into a ring in an invisible way, an ash container is created in the setting. In the video below, you can see how we do this with the Ise 1 ring. A little ash is placed in the tray and then the tray is sealed. Of course, this container is soldered tightly shut and is therefore watertight. Nevertheless, we always recommend taking off a piece of jewelry when showering or swimming. This keeps a piece of jewelry beautiful for much longer. Next, the chosen gemstone or diamond is placed in the appropriate setting. Of course, you can also choose the stone according to your wishes. You can go for your loved one's birthstone, your favorite color or a beautiful sparkling diamond.
When we incorporate ashes visibly into a ring, we use transparent enamel (resin). Here, the ashes are mixed with the transparent resin and this is placed together in a container. This allows you to see the ashes forever, in a subtle way. A great example of a ring that incorporates the ashes in a visible way is the Jake 1 ring in the picture below. In this design, we left out the stone and the top of the ring is finished with enamel. Do you still have a special ring and would like to know what the possibilities are with it? Then get in touch with us. It is also possible to modify existing jewelry and turn them into memorial jewelry.
Prefer to wear a necklace? Then have the ashes incorporated into a beautiful, personalized pendant. You can, for example, choose a combination of an initial with a birthstone or diamond. The possibilities here are endless. In all cases, the ashes will be processed in the setting case of a pendant. This will of course be properly sealed.
"My life looked beautiful, I lacked nothing. Together with my boyfriend, I travelled all over the world. Unfortunately, during a backpacking trip through Asia, I received a terrible phone call. My father, who had been ill for a long time, had died. So we had to abort this trip immediately to go back to the Netherlands. The hours in the plane seemed to last forever. It was very nice to be with my mother, brothers and sister and support each other. My father's wish was to be cremated, so everyone could decide if they wanted to do something with his ashes. My friend contacted DiamondsByMe and worked with one of the designers to design a beautiful ash pendant. He managed to visualize my style perfectly in a pendant. After all, I like sleek/modern jewelry but also jewelry with lots of details. On the day we decided to complete our trip, because my father had absolutely wanted it, I received this gorgeous gift from my friend. The front of the pendant has a sleek and matte finish. The back of the pendant is decorated with beautiful details and another small heart. This is the most beautiful gift I have ever received. The three of us finished the trip through Asia because, of course, my father was also a little part of it this way! Thank you DiamondsByMe for thinking with my friend during the design process, thank you for taking great care during the making and filling of this pendant, thank you for this amazing piece of craftsmanship; the end result is stunning!"
Do you prefer to have ashes close to your thoughts and memories? Then you can also choose to have ashes incorporated into earrings. This is possible as long as the earrings have a closed back case. Again, you can choose to use a birthstone, favorite gemstone or, of course, a sparkling diamond. As an example, below you can see the Shemika ear studs, where the original case is already closed. As with the ISE 1 ring, a special tray is also made in the ear studs where the ashes go. The stone is set over this.
Is your favorite type of jewelry a bracelet? Then work your loved one's ashes into a bracelet. This way, every time you look at your bracelet, you also have a beautiful memory of your loved one. This bracelet has a thickened tray where the ashes can be placed. Of course, this tray is also well-sealed so the ashes cannot come out. Don't forget that just like the ear studs, it is also possible to design your own bracelet!
Maybe your loved one has not died at all yet, but you would like a piece of jewelry to remember them? Then consider keeping the fingerprint and incorporating it into a piece of jewelry! You can have one or two fingerprints placed on a ring to make it extra personal and unique. You will soon read more about this possibility in new blog especially on this topic!
